The snap UID CHECK – Clean Core Edition allows you to verify your business partners’ VAT ID numbers quickly and easily, directly from your SAP system. The tool integrates seamlessly into your business processes, helping you stay focused on what truly matters. Validate against FinanzOnline (Austria, including Databox protocol), the German Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt), or VIES (EU) – and ensure your input tax deduction is secure.

Background

Input tax deduction is one of the key touchpoints between companies and tax authorities. Previously, invoice recipients were not required to verify the correctness of a supplier’s VAT ID as long as it appeared valid. Since 2013 (in Austria), this has changed: recipients must now validate the supplier’s VAT ID shown on incoming invoices. If the VAT ID is invalid, the input tax deduction is forfeited.

The snap UID CHECK automates this process for you, allowing you to focus on your core business. Out of the box, it provides a configurable verification monitor that can be scheduled as a background job to automatically check all your business partners against FinanzOnline (AT), the Federal Central Tax Office (DE), or VIES (EU). All results are logged in detail and can be traced down to the web service call level.

To enhance security, the tool displays the partner data returned by the verification service (if available). Our fuzzy matching compares and aligns these results with your SAP master data. Unmatched entries can be manually reviewed if needed. Your decisions are retained for future checks unless master data changes. This ensures not only that the VAT ID is valid but also that it belongs to the correct business partner.

An optional AI-based fuzzy matching module can also be integrated for even greater precision (not included in the base product).

Previously, our ABAP-based snapWARE tools were delivered via classic transport files. With SAP Cloud ERP, this approach has changed – SAP now uses gCTS (Git-enabled Change & Transport System).
